Northwestern State University alumni and friends should mark their calendars for 2023 Homecoming festivities set to take place Friday, Nov. 3 – Saturday, Nov. 4.
Join us as we honor four alumni by inducting them into the University’s alumni hall of distinction, the Long Purple Line.
The 2023 inductees are the late businessman Johnny Antoon, State Senator Louie Bernard and Judge Van Kyzar, all of Natchitoches, and law professor Gail Stephenson of Baton Rouge. The inductees will be honored at a luncheon on November 3, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Natchitoches Events Center.
The NSU Homecoming parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, beginning on the NSU campus and proceeding to the downtown riverbank for a pep rally that will include spirit group performances and an introduction to the Honor Court.
A quartet of All-American football players, a Southland Conference women’s basketball Player of the Year and a trailblazing basketball team highlight the Northwestern State N-Club Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
The 12-member group will be inducted and honored at 9 a.m. on Nov. 4 ahead of the Demons’ Homecoming football game against Houston Christian. Kickoff for the game is set for 2 p.m.
Former and Current Title IVE Child Welfare Scholars, DCFS Field Supervisors, and students interested in becoming a Title IV E Scholar are invited to rally in the Child Welfare Room located in room 345B of Kyser hall. This is a time the NSU Title IVE will show appreciation to the important work done by Child Welfare Workers, Our Alumni, and field supervisors that help our students learn in the field. It is a great time to meet others and learn about the experiences of students that have come before you. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. All participants are encouraged to come dressed in your Homecoming Attire and join us directly afterward at the Northwestern State University Department of Social Work Tailgate Party.

A reception to honor 2023 inductees into the Gallaspy College of Education and Human Development Hall of Distinguished Educators will take place from 10:30-11 a.m. in the Teacher Education Center Commons. The induction program will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Middle Lab School Auditorium.
You’re invited to join the NSU Alumni Association prior to the homecoming game at the Collins Family Pavilion. Tailgating begins at 11am. Food tickets can be purchased at the tailgate. Pricing and details are below:

Tailgate and relive your glory days with alumni and active members before the football game on the tailgating field. Food and fellowship at the Collins Family Alumni Pavilion. We’ll have an adjacent spot next door with games and drinks. Tickets are $15 per person at tailgates and that includes 1 trip to the buffet and two beverages. You can purchase additional beverages (2) for $5.00 during the event. For kids 10 and under, it is free and kids 11 to 18, it is $10.00. Ticket sales will end on Wednesday prior to event.
Alumni, current students, and future students are invited to join the NSU Department of Social Work Faculty in celebrating Homecoming at the annual Northwestern State University Department of Social Work Tailgate Party. Hosted by the NSU Department of Social Work, NSU Title IVE Child Welfare Scholars Program, and The NSU Social Work Club. Come out and show your school spirit, have some food, and learn about the updates in our department, the Title IVE Scholars Program, and the Social Work Club!
