These opportunities and many others throughout the year directly impact the economic value of the institution. Through an economic impact analysis with Lightcast, we have discovered that our university creates significant benefits for the business community, students, taxpayers, and society. We are proud to be a driving force for economic growth in the region, fostering job creation and development. Below you will see the findings of our recent study on the economic value of Northwestern State University for fiscal year 2021-2022.
During the fiscal year 2021-2022, NSU contributed $519.7 million to the economy of Northwest and Central Louisiana, which is roughly 1.5% of the region’s total gross regional product (GRP). This economic boost resulted in the support of 7,204 jobs. To put this in perspective, NSU’s activities, along with its students, accounted for one out of 53 jobs in Northwest and Central Louisiana.
These findings reflect the dedication and hard work of our community. Let us continue to build on our success, using the economic value we generate to enhance our educational experiences and foster greater achievements for our students and stakeholders.
