Robert Alost Hall Groundbreaking Ceremony on March 14Northwestern State University will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the school’s new academic building at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 14.  The new facility will be located on Sam Sibley Drive, on the site of the former Caddo Hall, which was recently demolished.

Gov. John Bel Edwards and other state and local dignitaries are expected to attend.

The new facility will be named for NSU’s 16th president, the late Dr. Robert Alost. It will house multipurpose classrooms, laboratories, training areas, a café, and administrative offices. The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking.  Parking will be available in the large commuter lot adjacent to the building site.

Scholars’ Day This Weekend
The Louisiana Scholars’ College at NSU will hold Scholars’ Day on Saturday, March 4. The event is designed to give prospective students and their parents an up-close look at what it means to attend the state’s Designated Honors College and to be a scholar.

Scholars’ Day begins at 9 a.m. outside Morrison Hall with a welcome, the introduction of faculty and an overview of the curriculum and concentrations from Director Dr. Tyler Travillian.

College of Nursing and School of Allied Health Excels in NCLEX Pass Rate
The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing pass rate for the Fall 2022 class posted an outstanding score of 98.2%.

The Associate of Science in Nursing pass-rate is expected to land in the high 90th percentile as well.

The pass-rate is evidence of the excellent career preparation that students receive in the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health. Our students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the nursing profession and to make meaningful contributions to the healthcare sector.

2023 Southland Indoor Track & Field
Northwestern State Women’s Track & Field team earned their first ever Southland Conference Indoor team title on the final day of SLC Championships in Birmingham, AL. I want to congratulate the Lady Demons on their remarkable accomplishment and representing NSU on the big stage.

I also want to commend the Men’s Track & Field team for finishing second in the SLC Championship.

The Demons return to action Tuesday, March 7 when they play in the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals against the winner of No. 3 seed Southeastern and the winner of the first-round matchup between No. 6 seed Houston Christian and No. 7 seed New Orleans.

The Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship will take place in Lake Charles, LA. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the NSU Ticket Office at (318) 357-4268.
